Privacy Policy

Gita Prakash for iOS

Last updated: 4 September 2026 · Applies to Gita Prakash version 1.0 and later.

This policy explains what Gita Prakash collects, why, where it is stored, who can see it, and how to get it deleted. It covers the Gita Prakash iOS app (bundle identifier com.gitaprakash.app) and this website.

The short version

1. Who we are

Gita Prakash is an independently developed app. For privacy purposes, the developer of Gita Prakash is the data controller. You can reach us at gitaprakash.support@gmail.com, which is the address to use for any question or request described in this policy.

2. What we collect

2.1 Anonymous account identifier

Firebase Authentication creates an anonymous ID the first time you open the app so that your progress can be saved. It is a random identifier. It is not linked to your name, your email or your Apple ID, and we cannot use it to identify you.

2.2 Sign in with Apple (optional)

If you sign in, we receive the name and email address you choose to share and a stable identifier from Apple. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever receive the relay address.

Apple never gives us your Apple ID password. Your name and email are held in Firebase Authentication so that you can sign back in. They are not shown to other users and are not published anywhere.

2.3 Progress and profile

Your display name, XP, current and best streak, total practice days, and level. This is stored under your account so that it can be restored on a new device.

2.4 Your reflections stay on your device

Anything you write in the Journal is saved only in the app's local storage. It is never uploaded, it is never visible to anyone else, and it is removed when you delete the app or your account.

The same is true of your bookmarked verses, your achievements, challenges, practice log and streak shields, and your reminder settings.

2.5 What other users can see

Only the leaderboard — your display name and your score (XP, streak, level). Nothing you write is shared.

2.6 Earlier versions

A previous version of the app had a shared reflections feed. Reflections created then may still exist in our database. They are no longer readable by anyone other than their author, and they are deleted when you delete your account.

3. What we do not collect

We do not sell your personal information, and we never have.

4. Why we use it

WhatWhyLegal basis (GDPR)
Anonymous user ID To let the app save your progress without making you register Legitimate interests — running the app you asked for
Apple name, email, user ID To sign you in and restore your progress on a new device Performance of a contract — the terms on which the app is provided
Display name and progress stats To show your profile and your place on the leaderboard Performance of a contract

5. Who else can see it

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. It reaches only these parties:

6. Where it is stored, and international transfers

Our Firebase project stores data on Google Cloud servers, which may be located in the United States or another country where Google operates. If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, that means your information may be transferred outside your country. Google provides for these transfers using the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your profile and progress for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account they are removed from our database immediately — along with any legacy reflection documents described in section 2.6 — though Google's backups may hold copies for a short period before they expire. An anonymous account that is never used again holds nothing but a display name and a score.

8. Deleting your data

In the app: Profile → Account → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account, your profile and your progress from our servers, and erases the app's data — journal included — from your device. It cannot be undone.

If you cannot use the in-app option, email gitaprakash.support@gmail.com and we will do it for you.

9. Your rights

9.1 Everyone

Whoever and wherever you are, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

9.2 United Kingdom, EEA and Switzerland (UK GDPR / GDPR)

You have the right to:

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

9.3 California (CCPA / CPRA)

In the twelve months before the date of this policy we collected the categories of personal information described in section 2 — identifiers, and the internet or electronic activity represented by your progress in the app — for the purposes set out in section 4.

We have not sold or shared personal information, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information beyond what is needed to provide the app. Because there is nothing to opt out of, the app carries no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link. You may still exercise your rights to know, to delete and to correct by emailing us, and you will not be discriminated against for doing so.

10. Children

Gita Prakash is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete the account.

11. Security

Traffic between the app and our database is encrypted in transit with TLS. Database rules restrict every record so that only its owner can change it, and the legacy reflections described in section 2.6 can be read only by the person who wrote them. No system is perfect and we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we hold no passwords, no payment details and no contact information beyond what section 2 describes.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and for a significant change we will say so in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Gita Prakash after a change means you accept the updated policy.
